  • Restaurant Name: Museo del Jamon

Museo del Jamon is a chain of deli/cafe/restaurants in Madrid, which appear to sell every type of deli-style meat available.

We had a huge breakfast at the one in Plaza Mayor, sitting in the sun and people watching.

Favorite Dish: the jamon of course!

    Las Bravas: Carbohydrate Fix

  • Restaurant Name: Las Bravas

Las Bravas is a chain of tapas bars that specialise in patatas bravas (fried potatoes with a spicy paprika sauce).

They have even patented their own spicy sauce.

We ate our patatas bravas, washed down by a beer or two whilst standing at the window and people watching...as usual!

    Favorite Dish: Patatas Bravas!!

Cerveceria Alemana: Tapas and more Tapas

  • Restaurant Name: Cerveceria Alemana

This bar/restaurant is over 100 years old and was a meeting place and hang out of bullfighters.

It is a busy place with a lovely, decorative interior. We managed to get a table at the rear of the restaurant which was a great position to watch the action around us.

Service was efficient and mostly friendly.

Favorite Dish: We had a selection of tapas, including croquettes, delicious ham and cheese and other tasty treats, washed down with a good bottle of rioja.

Just checking out your Madrid tips (especially the restaurants) since you seem to pay attention to where & what you eat (& drink) as much as we do. Thanks!

It looked like you were having fun in Madrid! Great photos of the city with it's impressive old buildings set among the green trees and with blue skies! Mmm, beer and tapas sounds good to me!
