Pienza Travel Guide: 76 reviews and 264 photos

Pienza is a small Tuscan village perched on a hill overlooking the rolling landscape of the Val d'Orcia. This tiny walled town is refreshingly not overrun with big tourist groups and is quiet enough to lose yourself to the stunning scenery surrounding it.

There is not a lot to see here, it is more about its location in one of the most stunning parts of Tuscany. It is a place to stop and sample the creamy, locally made Pecorino cheese and perhaps a glass or Brunello produced in nearby Montalcino.

Take a stroll along the town walls, enjoy the colours of Tuscany and plot your return.

Lovely photos, Sue. I once stayed near Pienza about 10 years ago... it's a beautiful part of Italy, and we ate just where you did. I must get back there again.

Awe, fond memories of Pienza, Montepulciano, and Montelcino! All terrific for cheese, wine, architecture, people watching, and "smooching"! You Bet!

That was a good move to suggest the 'suckling pig' for a lunchtime meal - it looks delicious! Beautiful views in and around Pienza, including those magnificent Cypress trees.

Sue, this is a fantastic page about my absolute favourite town in Tuscany!!! But I have to object: it is not just a "nice little village" - it is a UNESCO World Heritage site as well! Fascinating architectural art there!!!
