Il BoMa B&B - Wisteria room - Riomaggiore

Il BoMa B&B - Wisteria room

Il BoMa B&B: Il BoMa B&B - on the main street il Boma Riomaggiore Review
Show Prices

On our 4th visit to the Cinque Terre, in Sep 2007, instead of basing ourselves in Vernazza as usual, we stayed in Riomaggiore instead. I had a little difficulty finding suitable accommodation - we were travelling with my parents, so needed two rooms, and didn't want somewhere that had a huge number of steep steps to climb, due to my Dad's dodgy hip.

In the end I decided on Il BoMa B&B, which is located on the main street of Riomaggiore, a little way up the hill. The B&B has only 3 rooms - the Blue, Yellow & Wisteria rooms. We stayed in the Wisteria and Yellow rooms. The Wisteria room is the better of the two, with an internal bathroom and large bed. The Yellow room is smaller, with twin beds and its own bathroom located out in the hall.

We did manage to have a look inside the Blue room as well, and it seems this is the best room of all, with its large bed, bathroom and a tiny balcony where you can sit and watch the street below.

Unique Qualities: The B&B is on the 3rd floor of a recently renovated building, so there are a few floors of stairs to climb. The owner greeted us on arrival, showed us our rooms and gave us vouchers for breakfast, which you eat at a café just down the road, and consists of a hot drink and a couple of pastries.

Il BoMa was more than adequate for our two night stay, though I would probably stay somewhere else next time - there was nothing wrong with it, just nothing very special about it either.

We paid 75 euro per room, including breakfast, in Sep 2007.

Address: Via Colombo 99, 19017 Riomaggiore

Price Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: Once outside the train station turn right, go through the tunnel, it will take you to the village centre. Walk up the road to number 99 of the main street and you will find “Il BoMa”.

Albergo Barbara: No room in Riomaggiore ??

On our trips to the Cinque Terre, we have chosen to stay in Vernazza, as opposed to Riomaggiore - here are details of where we stayed.

Albergo Barbara is located on the town square overlooking the harbour. Our room had amazing views (see photo) and was clean and roomy, with shared bathroom.

There are several flights of stairs up to the hotel, but the friendly owners will help with your bags if necessary.

No breakfast, though plenty of cafes nearby.

Unique Qualities: Great views from most of the rooms, particularly rooms 7/8/9 which have amazing views of the harbour.

The smaller attic rooms 2/3/4 also have a view of the harbour through the small windows, and are a lot cheaper.

Address: Piazza Marconi 30, Vernazza

Price Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: On the main square in the top of a big old building, down the hill from the train station.
