Nightlife Spot: Bacaro Jazz
Bacaro Jazz is a jazz bar and restaurant located just near the Rialto Bridge. It is kind of smokey and a little too popular with tourists....but the music is good! We stopped in for a drink one evening, and took advantage of their Happy Hours special of 2 for one drinks - we figured with the 4 of us we could just pay for 2 drinks and get 2 free. It didn't quite work like that however - we had to buy 4 drinks and we got a further 4 free....which was fine...but I was almost tipsy before we left to go for dinner.

Directions: Bacaro Jazz is located in the center of Venice in front of the Central post office of the Rialto bridge. 10 minutes walk from the train station and also from San Marco square.

Nightlife Spot: Il Caffe
Located on one of my favourite piazza's in Venice, Campo Santa Margherita, Il Caffe or caffe rosso (because of its red sign) is one of THE places to go in the Dorsoduro area. Open all day, it is a great place to stop off for a coffee or a panini for lunch. In the evening it is a very popular place for a drink, with happy locals spilling out into the square, and live music some nights. We stopped in for a coffee and a snack, but have resolved to get back here one night when next in Venice!
