Temple of Kom Ombo/Kawm Umbu

Another place we visited on our cruise that departed from Aswan was the Temple of Kom Ombo.

The Temple is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris.

We arrived at night, and the temple looked amazing all lit up, with a full moon added to the atmosphere - just magic.

The Temple of Horus at Edfu/Idfu

We did a Nile Cruise that departed from Aswan, and one of the amazing places we visited was The Temple of Horus at Edfu/Idfu.

The Temple of Horus is one of the most completely preserved Egyptian temples. It is dedicated to the falcon god Horus.

Take a sidetrip to Abu Simbel

If you make it as far south as Aswan, make the extra effort to visit one of the most amazing places in Egypt - Abu Simbel.

The twin temples of Abu Simbel are massive temples carved into the face of mountains, located by Lake Nasser.

To get there you can take a bus, or better still a flight from Aswan, which takes around 45 minutes.

We had a half day side trip here, and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
