  • HOSPITALITY, you will find it everywhere and from everyone. Two days we spend there and we where invited to tea, juice, tobacco, lunch, dinner, a horse ride, … to everything they had … no waiting anything in return, nothing. How I wish we could all be like these people! Perhaps is the desert that makes you to share what youhave cause is a difficult way of life that needs always from the helps of others to survive. But then we should have to spend a year or so in the desert to understand how to share like these people do. We have so much to learn! I have so much to learn ...
Please don't think they are waiting from you to buy something or to trick you ... because they are not ... this is real hospitality

    Local Customs: Painting eyes

  • Bedouins have in my opinion the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Honey eyes that they use to paint in black around. From children to old people no matter if they where male or female, I saw those gorgeous eyes painted. Also in every shop near the silver jewel, or bone boxes you will find the pencils for paint your eyes.
When I founded my "Favorita" the second time, she had painted her eyes, perhaps for my pics.
I don't know if it was a traditional way of protecting eyes from the sun or insects ... the true is that they look more handsome, if it is possible, with painted eyes

  • Covered heads, for men a woman is more a need than a local custom. You have to protect you head from sun, sand and wind. What is a tradition is the kind of scarf they use, the traditional Arabic scarf for the men, the fekkieh, that in Jordan is red and white

  • It seems as if children are the more important members of the family to sell in these little souvenirs shops of Petra. They try to sell you with great professionalism all its merchandise while elder ones look how they do it. They are really good. When we went was school vacation time, so there where lots of beautiful Bedouins children.

  • I think this was a special police man, I think he was one of those that guard Petra. They are dress very elegant and as all the rest of citizens, they are very amiable. I think the must control that no one stays inside Petra after close time... I am not sure ... but well ... is nice to see them over there with their nice skirts and uniform
