>PLEASE PRAY FOR JAPAN<
This is a source of great concern for us what happens in Japan .
We have not much contact to our friends in Japan but we are worried about them like close friends.
I hope I hear soon again from the Japanese friends. I hope the engineers of the nuclear plants can manage soon something, the time is getting less.
--- Welcome at my VT-page - wish you nice time ---

In some countries of Europe is the 1st May a holiday, labour day, day off. But I'm not sure if all the poeple still know why we have this holiday. Maybe also in other countries than Europe.
In Germany for the most people is it a families day's hike and barbecue :-) (Bavaria put up tree of May). For the other part a day for demonstration. Official is labour day, day off. And the day before is better you have your car not outside, or young people could take paper around it or make other stupid things with all the things they are not nailed down. Now I'm curious.
How is it in your country? How do you celebrate it? Tell me and I write down here.
Austria: May day parade, put up tree of May, day off.
Belgium: Cortege in the streets and then a big party. In every pub or coffee they drink and make fun.
Bulgaria: day off
Bosnia & Herzegovina: Usualy people are taking some two or more days more and going to the coast or if are staying they are doing big barbeque with all the friends
Canada: no holiday
China: One week off days. Lot of people go outside and take travel.
Cuba: No work, biggest parade of the year picture of festival
England: 'Bank holiday Monday' so the first Monday after 1st May is a day off work
Finland: Parades, people go to picnics and also have May Day markets where stalls sell all kinds of stuff and lots of balloons
France: They give out bunches of flowers -'lily of the valley' small sweet smelling white flowers, muguet. Although it's called 'labour day' no-one works, hardly even any public transport.
Guyana: National holiday labour day, parade with most of the government workers dressed in red
Honduras: Public holiday
India: May Day celebrations also celebrated as Maharashtra Day
Indonesia: Labour from factory demonstration on the street to white house since democracy
Israel: no holiday
Italy: No work, parades and speeches and big concert in Rome
Japan: Labour day in Japan is at the end of November. They don't celebrate May 1st but they call it "May Day" and many sort of labour's unions gather in a park and demonstrate shouting in chorus
Kenya: Day of rest for all worker almost employees rest at home.
Latvia: Just a free day
Lithuania: Day off
Macedonia: Labour day, public holiday, day off, symbolic strike, barbecue, beer and traditional ORO dance
Malaysia: Just a holiday
Malta: Public holiday, barbecue, picnic
Mexico: Labor Day, public holiday but no special celebration
Nepal: 1. May = Diwas. Labour doing programs, in the sence, they get every one gratherd then give a speach , do the rally, they get leave,

Your country is not at the list?! Tell me and what you do at this day
Recipe for swabian Spaetzle.
In Swabian, sparrows are also known as "Spaetzle".
Serves 4
400g flour
2 eggs
a pinch of salt
1/8-1/4 l water (Or thinned milk)
1 spaetzle board
1 spaetzle cutter
1 tbsp. oil
Work flour, eggs and salt into a dough. Pour in water and continue to mix the dough untilair pockets show. Bring a large pot of salted water to simmer. Dampen the spaetzle board with cold water and place a small portion of dough on the board. Cut into small strips of dough with the spaetzle cutter that has also been dampened with cold water.
When the spaetzle rise to the top, remove them immediately from the water with a slotted spoon and immediately rinse in cold water and let drain.
Toss in drawn butter or pour over browned butter.
Enjoy your meal!
Do you know "Aeffle and Pferdle " (horse and monkey) in tv of Baden-Württemberg? For them is the biggest to eat spatzle with lentils and wiener. :-9
monkey make spoon warm because soup is already cold :-)
Swabian railway
Customs
Serves 4
250 g lentils (soaked overnight in cold water)
1 l meat broth
1 onion (studdes with two cloves and laurel leaves)
100 g lean bacon cubes
8 tbsp. onion cubes
4 tbsp. flour
salt (soup spices)
Drain soaked lentils and cook in meat broth with the studded onion until soft. Sauté bacon and onion cubes, dust with flour and let lightly brown, then add to lentils and bring once more to a boil. Add salt to taste.
A small bottle of apple vinegar is placed on the table to flavour according to taste. Swabians eat lentils with spaetzle tossed in butter, hot frankfurter wieners and streaky bacon.
Elegant version:
Before bringing the lentils to a boil for the second time, add two quarters of a peeled, falvouful pear per person and cook together. But don't forget the spaetzle and frankfurter wieners!
These are my rund ducks. I miss them. I lost two of them because a fox had stolen. And one duck alone is not good so I gave it away to someone which have run ducks too. Now I have time to make a new fence and new hut for the ducks. I like run ducks very much, they are so funny and they help me in the garden to kill the snails.
Our new pet. These pets are really funny and trustingly.
If I'm at home and already gave them something to eat they want to take me as a mountain to climb on it.
They have rat in there name, but they are no rats, they are akin with the guinea pigs.
Look at this site: Deguspecial german
there are sounds of them. Really funny. Or here english sites
....and here is the answer: the 1st may tree of the picture up is in Sapporo/Japan :-)
