"Victoria" Victoria by aqazi

If you're travelling from Tawassen as we did then the views from the ferry beat anything the horseshoe bay - departure bay offers with views of the islands in the Straits of Georgia. Unfortunalty we couldn't get on the ferry we wanted so had an extended wait for an hour and a half.

From Swartz bay (where the ferry from Tawassen drops you off) we made our way to Butchart Garden. My parents were very impressed and so were we. The garden were a real treat and we spend three hours wandering round and finished off with a picnic.

The Parliament Buildings in the evening

On my parents first visit to BC we decided to take them to Victoria and Tofino. First stop was the provincial capital where we stayed 2 nights. I had been told the Victoria was more british than england and I can understand the comparison. The centre itselt is very touristic but there is plenty to do. The harbour is dominated by the parliament and the Empress hotel buildings. The main shopping street seemed to be Douglas and Goverment Streets.

• Cons:Would have trouble filling more than three days
