Restaurant Name: Belgo
The place to go for cheap Moule frites and ace belgian beer. Very good valu eby London standards and they have branches all over. Lunch time menus are especially good value. If you're visiting then there's one near Covent Garden otherwise the only other one I've been too is in Chalk Farm/Camden.

Restaurant Name: Cafe Naz
Brick Lane specialises in Bangladeshi cuisine which I'm not really that keen on but nonetheless I've been 3 times and have always been a bit disappointed. Chances are you're not as picky as me, food is OK prices about right for the location. Pick of the bunch is probably Cafe Naz.

Restaurant Name: Pizza Express
Pizza Express is London's answer to expensive pizza. Thing is they taste really good and the restaurants are quite smart and in good locations. Me and my wife used to go loads of times but when I was single this was the place I always went on my first date. Casual and smart at the same time with no danger of being called a cheap skate! Pizzas and wine list are very good. Desserts if you have space are also good.

If you fancy a historical pub crawl forget the organised tours and save your money for beer. The best area I think is around Fleet Street. The pubs to head for around here are The Knights Templar (A converted Bank, the toilets used to be the vault, half way up Chancery Lane) The Old Bank of England (This is actually where all the money was made!!! It's very atmospheric, on Fleet Steet, doors away from the High Court) The Olde Cheshire Cheese (Charles Dickens used to come here and not much has changed. The beer is excellent and in the winter the open fires keep you nice and warm, just of Fleet Street, walk towards St Pauls, on the left hand side of the Street and it's just after the Nat West Bank) The Mitre (The oldest pub in London, a bit difficult to find but walk away from Holborn Viaduct down Hatton Garden walking on the left side of the street. Look out for a passage way on you left just before a Ladbrokes betting shop. It looks unlikleky but if you go down the passage you'll come to a tiny pub on your left). If you want a map or more instructions drop me a line!!
Favorite Dish: The Beer in the Knights Templar is the cheapest because it is part of the "Weatherspoons" Chain who are good value. My favourite is the Cheshire Cheese, I love the atmospshere and their Bavarian range of beers are excellent. If you are still thirsty try the Blackfriars pub opposite the Station on Queen Vic' Street.

Diwana Bhel Poori: Is this Bombay?

Restaurant Name: Diwana Bhel Poori
Bhel Poori consists of puffed rice soaked in a hot, sweet and sour sauce. Once you've tried it you'll get hooked. Its not that common to find in the UK but London has some of the best. The restaurants on Drummond Street have been here for years and Diwana is amongst the best in town. The clientel nowadays are mostly english people from the nearby offices (I used to work nearby too). Bhel Poori is excellent and there are many to choose from. Dosas too are fantastic. Come here many times to taste the menu or come for the buffet. A la carte is best in my opinion though

Restaurant Name: Ravi Shankar
I can't really write a tip on Diwana and not mention Ravi Shankar a few doors down. Once again this is a Bhel Poori restaurant but do Dosa and other vegitarian food. I prefer Diwanas myself but the decor is better at Ravis so if you're on a date you'd be better to come here. Clientelle is a mix of workers and locals and I think the prices are touch higher than Dinanas but the door is very good. Try both resaurants and decide which one you like best yourself.

Restaurant Name: Chetnas
As I's mentioned Diwana and Ravi Shankar I felt I had to include Chetnas. Now this place has much more ethnic clientelle and I think prices might be a bit higher than those on drummond street. However, food is great and to prove it it you time arriving incorrectly you'll have to queue as this place is seriously popular with local and british asians visiting Ealing road to go shopping. But wow the food is yummy, excellent Bhel Poori, Great Dosas and huge Thalis.

Restaurant Name: Sagonis
Have you read my other tips on Bhel Poori and vegi restaurants yet? Well this one beats the lot of them in my opinion. This is perhaps the best Vegi indian restaurant in the UK in my opinion and is even better than those in Leicester. This place is seriously popular and waiting is all part the experience of coming here. Naturally they serve Bhel poori, Dosa and thali but loads of other stuff too. The best thing however is the Falooda (indian milkshake with ice cream). Yummmmmmmmmmmmm. Some people come here just for that! The falooda is the very best in the UK and for 3 quid so it should be!
Favorite Dish: Oh one word of warning, some of the food can be very hot so order a mango lassi or some thing to cool your tongue down.

Restaurant Name: Veeraswamy
This place has been around for years and I had the opportunity to come here last year and took some client from work. Expecting great things everything was a dissapointment. The food was OK the service was OK and in general we had an OK time. The decor and location are good but you can find much better indian food and not need to take a second mortgage at other places. Not sure why this place gets so much praise, maybe I was just there on a off day.
