The Ancient City of Palymra

by aqazi - last update: Apr 19, 2004

I doubt anyone ever comes to Syria without coming to Palmyra. That said the place doesn't seem to get very busy.

Palmyra is an ancient city in the middle of the desert, built right by a spring.
The place is huge, I arrived in the late afternoon so spent the entire second day wandering around the city. I saved the third day for visiting the valley of the tombs.
There is imposing arab castle at the city as well but I'm pretty sure you're not allowed in. Or if you are there are entry restrictions.
