"Poring Hot Springs" Kampong Poring by aqazi

I have to admit that Poring was a bit of a dissapointment from the number of people that had told us it was unmissable and the publicity material. That's not to see it isn't good and certainly worth the trip after you climb Kinabalou but perhaps my image of hot springs was a little exagerated.

There are a number of pools to swim in and many baths or tubs which you fill with the boiling hot spring water and some cold water. Then ou just sit there and relax. Theplace was quite busy when we were there which was mid week but we recognised half the crowd from the peak of Kinablu where we'd been that morning.

There's also an elevated walkway through the trees which was fun though we struggled to see anything at 7am! The town of Poring if you can ven call it that has little to do though there is an internet cafe with very slow service. The resort probably has the best restaurant in town but again don't expect amything too fancy smancy. One night was enough for us here before we headed off to Sandakan.
