Living on this tiny island for more than 20 years may induce some sighs of boredom at times, but hey, I've never felt the real urge to leave it yet.

Do visit the zoo, where animals are well fed, well kept, well visited in an environment that attempts to imitate their natural habitat.

One of my greatest enjoyment is taking the bus through City Hall via Shenton Way. Be greeted by the brand new Esplanade,centre of the Arts on one side, and the Merlion park on the other.

Dine Al fresco beside the Singapore river along Boat Quay or Clarke Quay, or hang around for more pubbing and dancing into the wee hours of morning in the vicinity.

For budget travellers, head to neighbourhood town centres (see Off The Beaten Track) where you can get a decent meal for around $3-5 (abt US$1.80 - US$2.70).

Or shop til you drop for fashion and accessories at Orchard Road, electronics and computers at Sim Lim or Funan Centre, and interesting souvenirs at Chinatown or Little India.
