    • At USD220, the Sheraton Damasucus had better be good. The staff are helpful, the rooms well appointed, but with no in-room Internet. There is a business centre in the lobby. Due to the violence in Lebanon, a CNN team had commandeered the computers but were giving them up to guests on request.

    The hotel was besieged with (obviously well-heeled) "refugees" and were coping very well with a spike in occupancy from less than 50% to over 100% in two days.
