Palm Desert Travel Guide: 125 reviews and 232 photos

My wife and I spent a week at the Marriott's Shadow Ridge resort in Palm Desert, CA and also visited the nearby towns: Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella and Thousand Palms. It is a beautiful area because you are in a desert valley and it is surrounded by mountains. Wherever you go, the mountains are in view. We went in late March and the weather was great (especially since we were coming from cold NYC)--temperatures in 60s and 70s and almost always sunny.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful Desert/Mountains
  • Cons:Very hot in the summer
  • In a nutshell:Beautiful and Restful

Palm Desert would be a good place to retire if you don't want to come to Italy. The last time I was in Palm Spring, I sat next to Paul Williams (the musician) in the tramway bar, and he grabbed my drink by mistake. A fun memory. -- Nathalie

nice tips, and I don't have a fear of heights, so the cable car would be a nice ride, I'm sure.
