After deciding that it was time for another kids free weekend, we looked at the map to find someplace we could drive for the weekend. Since the Tulips were blooming and we could drive in about 4 hours, off we went to Amsterdam.
I must admit, the tulips at the Keukenhof were amazing. Naively, I was expecting a field with multi-colored flowers, which you do see, but we spent a few hours wandering around the garden.
Then it was off to Amsterdam, where we were staying just off of Dam Square. Unfortunately, there was a carnival in the square, so my navi was useless getting us to the hotel. After dodging the thousands of bikes, we finally made it, and the hazardous drive through the city was well worth it. You almost feel like you are in a town separate from the country surrounding it. For people in the US, a trip to New Orleans brings out the same feelings. |
