My wife and I were looking for a good weekend break, without the kids, to escape the dreary German Decembers. Having always wanted to visit the Akropolis, we decided to head to Athens. It seemed like a much better time to visit then the scorching summer time. We were rewarded with a beautiful weekend of sun and 22/72 degrees.
Staying in Plaka worked out perfect, as out of tourist season, it was not very crowded and was a convenient base to explore the Akroplis. The subway system in Athens is very good, so we could also easily get out to Syntagma Square to explore from there.
All in all, a perfect choice for a December weekend. |

You're right, it isn't nice to visit Athens in July! It's not even nice to live in Athens that period! lol! cheers! |
