During our stay in Europe, Venice has been one of our most frequent stops and rivals Rome as our favorite place. It is a great place to take our visitors, as everyone is impressed with Venice. The view of the city appearing on the horizon of the water never ceases to amaze our visitors. We have been fortunate with the weather on each of our visits. We have always gone in April or late September to avoid the massive crowds and the hot temperatures. We have found that it is a great place for our kids, as they are never bored with Gondola rides and playing with the pigeons. For us, it is well worth the cost of the hotels to stay near San Marco and enjoy a glass of Brunello on the Piazza.
