Prague Off The Beaten Path
Sort by: Most Recent | Best Rated | Author's Order

Off The Beaten Path: Dejvicka
  • Tip Rating:
  • We took the underground to Dejvicka, only to realise when we got there that it was Sunday and everywhere was closed. We were quite dispondent and found a KFC to which we thought we would take coffee. But next door was a real Czech deli... great place, hot chocolate x2 and 3 wonderful cakes for approx £1.30.unbeleivable!!! a fantastic place that sold a wide variety of goods and was very Czech, not like the KFC next door!!! Come out from underground walk down hill to roundabout deli place almost straight ahead. Try it I dont think you would be dissapointed.

Off The Beaten Path: Botanic gardens
  • Tip Rating:
  • Botanicka zahrada has a tradition going back 600 years, and displays a corresponding variety of both native and exotic plants. The garden was laid during the reign of Charles IV by a Florentine apothecary named Angelo. The University garden, established in Smichov in 1775, was transferred to this site in 1897.

    Off The Beaten Path: Caves
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Koneprusy stalactite caves were not discovered until 1950. The caves with bizarre shapes formed by the growth of stalactites and stalagmites are connected with the limestone formations of the Bohemian karst ( Cesky kras ) and are the largest in the country. Human and animal remains were uncovered when excavation work was in progress. The work shops of 15th century forgers have been rebuilt and are well worth a visit. Location 19 miles southwest of Prague

Remarkable page - it is amazing that Prague has so much to offer that even long pages can be totally different. We loved Prague and you have so much stuff on here that we didn't see that I could go back all over again. n.

Hi Jan, thanks for the comment on my Prague pague. It was beautiful there - still had some snow, but rather few tourists in January. One of my all-time favourite cities. Best regards, Michael

Thanks for visiting my somewhat sparse Prague pages, I'm just in the process of completely updating them and the Czech Republic.
