Day Trip to Jigikudani

Is probably the only place in the world that you can see wild monkeys bathing on onsens

Day Trip out of Tokyo

Going to the Monkey Park from Tokyo is a doable, but expensive day trip.

Take the 7:28am Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano
Change to the local Nagano Dentetsu (40min) to Yudananka
Take local bus to the Kayanbashi Onsen
Hike 30 min to the Park!!!

It is amazing to see the monkeys just roaming in the onsen and the snow banks.

They are wild monkeys. You can see them all year round, but they were known as the snow monkeys. more travel advice

Hi Monica! I will be going to Nagano in December, am definitely looking forward to seeing the snow monkeys bathing in the hot spring!
