In Poland the common opinion about Ukraine cannot be taken as a good one... what people say is:it's dirty and destroyed, they would kill you in the street, rob you and throw your body to some river so that nobody never finds you... yeah, sure; I've never saw cleaner railway stations (not to mention my beloved, hehe, Warszawa Centralna... yuck!). That's true - generally people are poor, but I did not notice anyone even wanting to rob me :) and they are nice and hospitable too. And the best thing was - as I always imagined Ukraine as a deserted steppe - to find out how multicultural and varied it was... and to meet Tatars, hehe, for my dad is a Tatar too :)))
Unfortunately I can't put any pictures now, so temporarily the travelogue(s - for I plan to write at leas one more) must do... enjoy!

Brrrrr...I love your stories...but this trip you took to the Ukraine made me cold just reading about it. Your a great story teller...keep it up, I enjoy them so much and I feel I there with you group.

Very nice travelogue! Sounds like a fun trip.... aside from the lack of facilities on the train and the presence of too much vodka!

Thanks for sharing your good and less pleasant Ukrainian adventures in travelogue. Very interesting insight and, accurate, I think. Haha, I remember those closed windows in a bus on a hot day...

Exactly my thoughts on Ukraine. I've found the people there to be extremely friendly even if their economical conditions were not that favourable.
