Bergen is one of the most distinctive towns in Europe. It’s here that Troldhaugen- the home of the composer Edvard Grieg-can be found. The medieval harbour and the Aquarium houses the largest collection of salt water fish in Europe are also local sites.Bergen is noted both for its scenic setting in the snug embrace of seven hills and for t he characteristic architectural style of its older buildings. Though generally accepted as having been founded by King Olav Kyrre in 1070 it may well be older. The oldes buildings still standing are located to the east of the inner harbour, vågen and comprise Bergenhus fortress, with Håkon’s hall and the Rosenskrantz tower, St Mary’s church, and tightly packed wooden Hanseatic houses of the Quay.
The Harbour
Bergen is famous for it's harbour. it's called "Bryggen" in Norwegian
taking the cable car to Mount Fløyen
this is a must for all visitors this lofty vantage-point, 320 mestres above sealevel, provides magnificent views of the town and harbour, as well as of the islands and skerries to the west.

Beautiful pictures of Bergen. It seems to be nicer than Oslo,actually.
I actually went to Bergen on the hottest weekend of the year, i packed waterproofs and came back with sunburn :-)
Too bad about guaranteeing getting wet. That's OK for a visit - it must be hard if you live there. What is a skerry? I couldn't find it in the dictionary. Interesting page.
