"with one eye in Tartu" Tartu by Hildeal

Tartu Travel Guide: 177 reviews and 194 photos

When I went to Tartu, i had contact lenses. But one of them fell out, so I only had one eye left to explore the city.
But even with one eye, i was fascinated by this city. it's so natural, and friendly. The town has a lot of history, and it's not so affected by tourism as other towns like Tallinn.

The history of Tartu

The first written records of Tartu date from 1030. Tartu, with its population of 101,246 in an area of 38.8 square kilometres, is the second largest city of Estonia. Tartu, is also the centre of Southern Estonia. The Emajõgi River connects the two largest lakes of Estonia and adds colour to the city.
Tartu is often considered the intellectual and cultural centre, especially since it is home to Estonia's oldest and most renowned university
