La Pensione: Perfect location La Pensione Review

La Pensione is quite centrally located, a few minutes walk to the tourist places such as Duval Street, Mallory Square, Southernmost point, Truman's little white house, etc. You can rent a bicycle from the hotel and just cycle around if you don't feel like walking. Plenty of restaurant choices within walking distance.

We stayed in room 5, a quiet room at the back corner upstairs with simple decor. Some rooms had balconies but ours didn't. Those rooms could be loud as they were facing the busy street. The king size bed was comfy. The room itself was spacious with a closet and drawers, as well as a couple of chairs and table in the sitting area by the large windows. The bathroom didn't have enough hooks or bars for towels though. Yes there is no tv, but who really needs one when you are on vacation trying to get away from everything! There is one in the kitchen downstairs that is tuned to the weather channel, and it's turned on during the day when there is somebody in the office.

The owner and staff were friendly and helpful.

Unique Qualities: We enjoyed sitting at the front porch watching people and cars passing by. There is an outdoor pool but it's too cold to get in. And there are 6 or 7 parking spots for guests. Breakfast was simple with cereal bowls, hard-boiled eggs, fruits, bagels, and home-made waffles to choose from. The waffles were great!
