Gateway to other places in Costa Rica

The elegant national theatre in San Jose
I didn't spend much time in San Jose of my 2-week trip. Although San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica, many tourists prefer to stay off the downtown area because of crime concern. Plus there are not many to see within the city. Yet it is necessary to travel back to San Jose, which is located stratigically in the center of the country. The city is the transportation hub for most bus routes.

You were the featured traveler when I logged in just now. I read with interest that you had done some volunteering in Costa Rica. I'm always glad to learn of people who do this type of travel!

Thank you very much for your insight on San Jose. We're looking for some nice plazas or parks for our son to run around in when we go to SJ....and I'm sure he'll love the churros too! Happy travels to you!
