Kitzbuehel is 10 kms away from St Johann by train, but a world apart from the many small towns and villages in the area of East Tirol.
A Town of about 10,000 people and no doubt twice that number during the winter season when ski ing is the main sport and activity.
A visit on a Saturday morning in October showed by the number of visitors how popular the town is with tourists and visitors.
I felt my visit was more an obligatory visit than one where I really wanted to walk around to see the town. |
| | At the start of Vorderstadt, more shops below. I walked up hill from the station, climbed up Josef-Pirchl Srasse and reached the two churches, one Liebfrauen Kirche, the second Pfarrkirche St Andreas.
It was Saturday and I decided to visit them later, first order of business was to buy some gifts for my grandsons.
So I proceeded into the busy town centre, taking some photos as I went. |
| Shop or climb a mountain. |
| | A trip for later that morning. The town is attractive from at least two points of view, one the vast array of merchandise for the tourists to see and buy, or second the traveller who wants to be outside the town and see the sights. |

| Pros: | "A good place to buy, to visit the ski hillsand to relax." | | Cons: | "A bit claustrophobic for me, glad to escape to the hills." | | In A Nutshell: | "Been there, no plan to return." |

DPando Mon May 26, 2008 19:49 UTC wow !! such an aerial view buddy !! great tips you have ! | deecat Sat Feb 9, 2008 10:11 UTC Needed an "uplift" from the horrid weather we're having & these pages did it. What's not to like...trees, a valley, mountains, a park, and a lovely church. What a pleasant read with the addition of the fantastic photographs. | tiabunna Sun Aug 19, 2007 04:15 UTC I can imagine the town would be much more pleasant without the crowds - but the impressive cable car photos show the area is well worth visiting. | Jim_Eliason Tue Jul 31, 2007 04:55 UTC fantastic pics, David! |
