Swan symbol of Zell am See. Zell am See is a resort of 8,000 people on the west side of the Zeller See. It is connected by rail to Salzburg and Innsbruck as well as a good road along the south side of the Kitzbuheler Alpen.
The lake is a great attraction for families with a bathing station at Seespitze 25 minutes around the lake. The Schmittenhohe rises to the west of the town and there is a cable car to the top and since the lower station is at the top of Zell am See there is a bus service and a road connection. The mountain top is a good place to hike. A ferry service is available to cross the lake to Thumersbach and do some more hiking.
The town is also a centre to take a bus to the Grossglockner Alpine pass. |
