"San Antonio's Famous River Walk" San Antonio by NeeNaVal

My honey and I began coming here as a couple with our first World's Fair experience (actually Hemisfair '68) years ago, and though the River Walk was a highlight even then, it was just a skeleton of what it has become today.

My most recent trip here was with a granddaughter and great-grandson, and though it wasn't the most romantic time I've had here, it was a joy to be able to share it with these next two generations. And of course, we had to experience it also by riverboat.

Summers can be hot here, but a relaxing cruise is a great break from those long steamy walks. (Fortunately, the restaurants along the loop are indoor-outdoor so they can be enjoyed in any weather. And the River Center Mall is air-conditioned shopping on multi-levels.)

Actually, the climate allows San Antonio to be a year-round destination, and if you enjoy festivals (especially the month-long celebration of lights and music, food and parades at Christmastime), you'll love this place and its culture just as I do!
