Restaurant Name: Breakfast In America
Breakfast In America was opened in 2003 by an american screenwriter and movie director who couldn't find a great burger when visiting Paris, so he eventually opened his own american diner in the 5th arrondissement on the left bank of the Seine, which has just now doubled to another B.I.A. diner in the 4th arr. on the right bank as well. I visited this place and had a great breakfast/brunch here in both 2005 and 2006, and can highly recommend this place though I'm not american myself - especially if you would like to experience the eating in a place that could have been cut out of Grease (the movie). According to their website, the investors behind the restaurant, which includes several movie directors such as one of from the TV-series Friends, plan on expanding to other french cities as well as other European and Asian countries within a few years.
Favorite Dish: Breakfast In America gives you the full experience with great menu and a ton of original and cool decor. A traditional brunch could be scrambled eggs, portatoes, sausages and toasted bread. By the way, you toast your own bread right at the table to make it fit your taste. The place also offers a range of burgers and american style pancakes, and you can eat here from 8.30 - 11.pm 7 days a week! Happy hour from 9pm - 5m (except for Sundays). I've tried the brunch-menu and this is some of the greatest hangover food you'll find around Paris ;)

Restaurant Name: Lizard Lounge
This one is listed as a night-life tip also. The Lizard Lounge can be found in the small street rue Bourg-Tibourg not far away from Hotel de Ville and is known as a very good bar in Paris with live music. During the day you can go here for brunch, a sandich a pasta dish, soup and so on.
Favorite Dish: I have only eaten here once so far, but I got a really tasty pasta-dish so I can reccomend that as my favorite!

Quick: A french version of MacDonalds

Restaurant Name: Quick
Wouldn't call this a real restaurant but if you are in need for some fast food on your way around the city try this french/belgian version of MscDonalds, named Quick. As the named indicates this is a fastfood restaurant and it mainly offers the same type of burgers and menus as MacDonalds...I kind of like these ones a little better though.
Favorite Dish: My favorite burgers includes bacon and cheese!

The Moose: Can you eat a moose?

Restaurant Name: The Moose
The Moose is a canadian bar/grill in the St. Germain area, and I've added this one as a night-life tip also! This is a great bar and not at least a great place to eat in a cozy canadian atmosphere in one of the best areas of Paris. Go there and try out the special canadian dishes like 'Moose Wings' (can a moose fly?), a great burger, a salad, a sandwich or a speciality from Quebec; Poutines. The prices are fair and you can enjoy your meal right at the bar or at one of the tables in the 'big screen' area showing live sports!
Favorite Dish: I've been here to eat several times the last two summers and I'm addicted. My favorite includes a plate of Moose Wings with BBQ sauce...beware of the Buffalo sauce, it's good but very HOT! And then a classic poutine which consists of pommes frites, brown sauce and three different types of melted cheese. Sounds weird maybe but it's great!! You gotta order a cold Moosehead Beer to go with that :)

Restaurant Name: Le Bistrot Lorrain
This is a nice little Italian restaurant just down the street from Gare de l'Est. It's nothing luxurious, but if you are in that area and feel like pasta or pizza...this might be a good choice!
Favorite Dish: They have a dish with a mix of three different types of pasta/tortellini which is quite nice. The classic Spaghetti Carbonara is also good!

Place de la Contrescarpe in the 5th arrondissment is a very nice 'square' with many restaurants to chose from. If you like Italian food this is a good place to eat and take in the atmosphere from this charming place. The price-level is fair too!
Favorite Dish: Have only tried the Pasta Carbonara so far, and that was really good, so that must be my favorite :)

Restaurant Name: Gelati d'Alberto
At Gelati d'Alberto near Place de la Contrescarpe you won't just get an icecream...you'll get an artistic masterpiece of icecream as they make their icecream look like beautiful flowers with the mix of flavor you decide. It's not cheap, but fun to try and the homemade icecream is really good!
Favorite Dish: There is many great flavors...have no favorite.
