Chici has been the last stop of 10 days round trip in the Morrocoy National Park, started in Tucacas in order to visit the south islands , than 3 days camping in Cayo Sombrero ( a beach only for us!) and to finish to Chichi, so as to to be able to visit the north islands and to practice kite surf in Cayo Varadero. The city does not offer a lot, is a fishermen town who have transformed in the time in a tourist city with posadas, restaurants and services, point of departure for the escursions to the cayos. |

| | The first houses has been constucted with the sand coming from Cayo Varadero, today if u come from the sea u can see big concrete buildin of 7 floors, residences, hotels or luxury. But in spite of the continuous developement, exept for the Avenida principal and the waterfront, the road are unpaved and often lackin in drains: something is staring to change, but the work is hard and long! In Chichi u can find all the service u need, from Intenet, to pharmacy, police station, taxi,...... |
| | Although Chichi left me a good memory: in the evening u can meet the people in front of the house doors, with the barefoot children play in the road, or some guys near a bar with the old 70' Buik car ( incredible car like in STersky and Huck!) listening raggatone from big, big car soundbalster! I remember the time spent sitting in front of the licoreria, drinking beer with Hector and his brother, talking about our country, politics, sport, litening to old 'salsa'. I hope Chichi can earn more from the turistic developement, not for the foreign money in the big resort, but for is people, to have better conditions.....I'd like that the turist money stay here and not abroad! |
