When I was looking at places to visit in Berlin I came across Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island). To my amazement no one had written any tips about this Island, well not on the correct page. It is located in the River Havel and on the outskirts of Wannsee and can only be reached by ferry. The main changes to this idyllic island were made by the Prussian King Frederick William II, besides the building these included a zoo in which Peacocks were kept and from which it’s acquired its name.
So what is there to see? No cars, smoking or radios. There are no shops or cafes and only the beauty of the island and surrounding to take in. There is plenty of peace and quiet at this World Heritage Site

Hi Alan, thanks for posting VT's first and only page on the Pfaueninsel (at least the only one in the right place). It's amazing that generations of peacocks have survived since 1795 and are free to roam the island exactly the same as they were then.
Wonderful, you caught the peacock at its best! Beautiful there as it has been years-years back when I day tripped there.
Next time I visit Berlin I must make it to Peacock Island. It looks my type of a place. Bth, I've been very busy lately but hope to get in touch soon.
interesting !
Excellent information and wonderful pictures of the peacocks. You were lucky they did a fan for you.
Great new page with an excellent picture at the begin!
