When I was looking at places to visit in Berlin I came across Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island). To my amazement no one had written any tips about this Island, well not on the correct page. It is located in the River Havel and on the outskirts of Wannsee and can only be reached by ferry. The main changes to this idyllic island were made by the Prussian King Frederick William II, besides the building these included a zoo in which Peacocks were kept and from which it’s acquired its name. |
| | Pfaueninsel So what is there to see? No cars, smoking or radios. There are no shops or cafes and only the beauty of the island and surrounding to take in. There is plenty of peace and quiet at this World Heritage Site |
| | Peacock The peace of the island can be broken by noise of the100 peacocks. |
