"Prenden" Prenden by alancollins

Prenden is a small village in the middle of nowhere, approximately 40kms north of Berlin. That was the idea because there was a military base on the edge of the village. That was nothing unusual in the GDR days because the military were everywhere but this base has a secret. This base contained a secret underground bunker that would have housed the GDR leaders in the event of a nuclear war. Construction work started in 1978 on Bunker 17/5001 also locally known as the Honecker Bunker and took 5 years to complete. Unfortunately when the military moved out in 1993 the curious and theives moved in. gaining access to the bunker. Money was not available to protect the site and after a 3 month period of organised tours the bunker was sealed at the end of 2008 to protect it.
