Melnik Travel Guide: 8 reviews and 14 photos
The historical town Melnik lies on in the middle of the Labe lowlands and has a commanding view of where the rivers Labe and Vltava join. The town is known for its wine growing, chateau, market square, the church of Sts Peter & Paul with its macabre ossuary, Prague Towers & the Church of St Ludmilla.
Though if you want to enjoy the stunning views from this vantage point try not to pick a misty October day like me.
- Pros:Lovely town
- Cons:Slightly of the beaten track by public transport
- In a nutshell:Wonderful buildings & views.

the czechs seem to have a thing about ossuaries, no? I heard melnik was a very pretty city (town)
Melnik was a pretty town but unfortunately I picked a freezing cold misty day to visit.
I went through here once on the train (Prague-Dresden), but didn't get off to have a look around. Maybe next year . . .
Didn't know there were so many Churches with ossuaries.
the czech republic is now a very nice destination
Lovely river picture!
Charming place (except for the ossuary) and beautifully situated. Your pictures are lovely, in spite of the weather,
