Pendine Sands

Pendine Sands has a sandy beach some 7 miles long and it is a popular holiday resort. Because of its length the beach was used for land speed record attempts during the 1920 and the record was broken a number of times. These record breaking attempts came to an end on the 3rd March 1927 when J.G. Parry-Thomas was killed during a run. Attempts on land speed records are still being made on Pendine Sands but this has been an electric car and there is another attempt being made in 2010 with a lawnmower.

What a lovely beach! Hope it is quiet most of the time. The sea birds can't possibly like man's land speed attempts.
