Weston super Mare is one of those traditional seaside resorts with a pier, donkey rides, sandy beaches and a long esplanade. It is the largest seaside resort in the West Country. It has the second largest rise and fall of tide in the world of about 50 feet, which means when the tide goes out, it really goes out, approximately 1 mile from the sea front.

That must be quite a sight when the tide goes out (or comes in) so far.
For some reason the Bristol Channel has a large tidal range which causes the tide to go out a long way. It is more mud than sand so it's called Weston super Mud locally.
