"Elections" Karoi by alancollins

I was lucky enough to go to what was the old Rhodesia to suspervise the elections, which were held in 1980. I stayed in a hotel which I believe was called 'The Blue Sky' in a town called Karoi. I think the only reason it may have been called 'The Blue Sky' was due to the holes in roof of the building I stayed in. I always remember that an unusual feature of the hotel bar was a gun rack to store your rifle whilst you had a drink. The people that looked after us were wonderful as we were expecting a rough time. How would you like someone from another country supervising your elections? Well we guarded the ballot boxes and as far as I could tell from my minor part the election was free and fair. And the rest is history as they say.
