All our trips start here | OLD PICTURE OF THE RAILWAY VIADUCT |
In the North West of England, Stockport in Cheshire is our home town, not by birth but adoption. It is situated to the South East of Manchester and you may travel between the two and not notice the bounderies or any great differance The town centre marks the spot where the Rivers Etherow , Goyt & Tame become the River Mersey more famously linked to Liverpool than Stockport. Once no more than an open sewer the River now supports a wealth of wildlife with even Goosanders (a duck species) overwintering on the river, escaping from the Artic. The Famous from Stockport include Mike Yarwood, TV celebrity impersonater, Joan Bakewell, TV & Radio Reporter,Presenter & Writer, and the last Britian to win the Mens Singles Title at Wimbledon (Tennis) Fred Perry We find the very best thing about living in Stockport is we are central to some of the most beautiful places in Britain and within an hours motoring we can be in Snowdonia, the Peak Disrict, the Yorkshire Dales, or the Lake District. Any of which, is where we will be, most weekends right through the year. Oh! and did I mention it takes a taxi 15 minutes to get from our house to Manchester Airport |
