Kalkan is a sleepy little village built on mountainside which ends in the harbour at the bottom. Its a fab place to go to just chill out and forget about everything - it was really hot though in August 45*C in the day and 33*C in the evenings. There wasn't any AirCon in the pension we stayed in but it was clean and comfy. Its in an ideal location to travel to other places such as Olu Deniz, Fethiye, Patara. Nearby is Kaputas beach....which I recall as fun (it was in 1992 tho!). I really enjoyed the ancient Roman ruins which are everywhere - just by roadsides....such as the remains of an old amphitheatre....it was priceless. You absorb yourself in it and imagine what it must have been like all those centuries ago....I've been blessed with a vivid imagination!!!!! This picture is of Saklikent...details to follow! |

RUMISABUNCU Fri Sep 3, 2004 08:34 UTC Yasmine, Thank you for nice Saklikent photo. Did you visit Kekova? It is located east of Kas. An ancient city under the water. | sandysmith Sat Feb 21, 2004 22:02 UTC I remember wading through that ice-cold water! |
