It was super easy to travel to and in Tibet I just bought air ticket in Chengdu at hostel travel agency. Nobody ever asked me where or who is my travel group. To be sure I did apply for travel permit to visit places that all travel guide books says you need permit to visit in Tibet and it was done in 30 minutes. It cost about US$ 10 but in whole 2 weeks noboby wanted to see it ever all the way to Nepal border. The only problem is that it is much slower travel than with the tour agency because you use public minibus or hitchhike. It is very hard to find out from where minibus is going because typical answer was "you need to rent our jeep". Ask around at more places.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO TRAVEL IN TIBET INDEPENDENTLY. I DID IT.
