I felt very safe in New York. There are a lot of police officers on the streets, and even if they weren't around i didn't find a reason to be afraid. I always like to take walks at night when i travel to see the city afterhours so I would go out at 12pm or 1am ( of course theres always people out there in NY) and it would be normal to see families wandering around with kids and everything...
