Short Introduction I've been fortunate enough to visit Washington DC twice thanks to my family living there. Although I did lots of sightseeing the first time I was stunded to discover nice new things on my second visit. The clue is to go sightseeing outside of the center. The area around the mall is splendid and the museums are both free and of outstanding quality. It is also a little weird since there is not much city life there. It is just museums and office buildings and it is sometimes even difficult to find some place to eat! For a neighbourhood that is more alive you should visit Georgetown and not just stick to M-street. This summer I did an elaborate walk in Georgetown and discovered beautifull places. It would be a shame to miss this because you sticked to the normal sights (mall/arlington/monuments/white house/capitol). A walk in Georgetown should be on top of your list even if you only stay for a short period of time! |
