"WONDER OF NATURE" Grand Canyon by joanj

I never fail to draw a sharp intake of breath when I view the Grand canyon. I marvel at all the different colours of the rock, how the mist sometimes makes it mystifying, seeing the gorge so very far below, the rock strata.
This particular picture is my favourite, taken in late October l998. I have many photo's of the Grand canyon, but keep coming back to this particular one.

Rim lookout

From this vantage point, there is a spectacular view of the Grand canyon.

The studio was completed in l914 and was designed by Mary Colter. The Lookout Studio was designed with native stone, and an irregular roofline, to blend into the rim of the Grand Canyon.. On the porch was a high power telescope, which is now on display in the History Room of the Bright Angel Lodge.

Through the telescope visitors could view the Grand Canyon and watch the mule riders descend into the Grand Canyon.
