Update on Malta pages. While visiting in October 2007, we learn that Malta will use the Euro as currency as from 1st January 2008.

Picture taken in 2004

Since my last visit to Malta in l994, I have just returned after a 10 year gap. So many things have changed, the colour and style of the buses, the huge amount of building work going on - mainly condo's, or apartments for local people, as well as updating, or rebuilding old hotels.

The promenade at Sliema was a huge difference, frequented by locals and tourists alike enjoying the Passegiata - walking, talking and socialising.

So please seek out the Maltese Islands pages, and those of the various villages we visited. Enjoy

1994 Visit to Maltese Islands.

This is the lovely bay that was at the end of the street where we stayed.

St. Julian's bay is a nice area with restaurants, and a lovely walk along the promenade.

Sliema

Sliema

Just around the corner from St. Julian's bay is a lovely place called Sliema.

Just to sit here and people watch, and soak is the sun, is a way to spend a pleasant relaxing afternoon.

From here you can catch the ferry across to Valetta and back, and join a harbour cruise, which takes you around the Grand Harbour.

Since this photograph was taken, Sliema strand has been upgraded, also there are newer busses, but still retains the old charm.

There is a small beach.

A Sliema Street

This street was crammed with small shops selling almost everything.

The lace shops were great to look around, and yes I did make some purchases.
