"Great place for snorkeling" Hanauma Bay by joanj

If you wish to spend time here, it is closed on a Tuesday, so arrange accordingly.

There is an entrance fee to go down to the bay, and also a car park charge.

I quote from the Outriggers "Best of Oahu" books, that you can find all around the island.

One of Hawaii's best snorkeling sites, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve's calm crystal-clear waters are home to hundreds of species of tropical reef fish. Being protected by law, these creatures have no fear of humans and are glad to greet the thousands of snorkelors that visit the bay every day, except Tuesday when the bay is closed.

Most tours, and do check around for the best one to suit you, offer roundtrip transportation from Waikiki hotels, professional snorkeling gear and expert safety and equipment instruction. Underwater cameras, corrective lens masks, flotation devices and dry snorkels are also offered by some companies.

There are often coupons in the Outrigger book that I have mentioned, it could save you a few dollars.

Look out in the free visitor booklets for organised trips to the bay, you can get there by public transport, but it would take a long time there and back, and you would probably waste valuable time.

This is where the car park and rest room facilities are, and over this wall is the cliff down to the bay.

So from up here you can sometimes pick out turtles swimming.
