Here is a view of the Railway Station where we were stranded !
Story is that after taking a jet gorge boat trip, then overlanding in a 4 x 4, we were returning to Chch by railway. Our tour guide was told the train was running over an hour late, so took us to a cafe for hot refreshment, be back in 1hr. This we duly did, only the train got in early, no passengers, so went to the next station. Only found the train had gone because another engine was at the station going in the opposite direction and the driver had seen it depart. Lots of phone calls later, and commandeering a coach filled with other tourists, who kindly let about 20 of us on a full coach, (it was very friendly) we drove to the next station down the line, and the train waited for us.
Well this was an adventure day after all!
All's well that end's well.
The scenic railway journey was worth the wait and anxieties.
