"City of Sails" Auckland by joanj

Known as the City of Sails - Auckland has a bigger population than the whole of the South Island.

Volcanic Cone

South of the City of Auckland is the 196 metre (643 ft) extinct volcanic cone of Mount Eden.

It is Auckland's highest point, and affords a 360 degree panoramic view of the region.

Sky Tower

The Sky Tower stands 328 metres tall. It is the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere.

There are three viewing levels, which offer 360 degree views of Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf.

The glass floors are located on the main observation level (182 metres)and are 38mm thick glass floor panels.
Stand on them - I did. (see must see activities).

If you dare to, you can sky jump from the observatory level.
