Christchurch in the lovely South Island of New Zealand.

It is the capital of the Canterbury region with a population of approximately 300,000.

Christchurch was named after an Oxford college, (hense my chapter title), it also feels and looks like Oxford with the winding river (Avon).


With the River Avon running through, it is just like a piece of England transported to New Zealand.

This lovely river is only a few yards from the hotel we stayed in, the fountains are lit at night.

This serene sight looks so much like being back home in the U.K.

Tram

Here is a picture of the Tram .

It is in operation daily during Nov. - March 9.a.m. - 9.p.m. and from April - Oct. 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The tram cirtuits it's way through 2.5km of the city, past many of the central sights, including the Arts Centre, and Cathedral Square.

The tramway has only been recently installed, but the rolling stock is largely made up of restored 1905 originals.

You can get on or off at any stop depending on your time limit on your ticket.

• Cons:None that I could find, except it is far away from us for more visits.
