"Lake Taupo" Lake Taupo by joanj

During our 6 week tour of New Zealand (cricket tour of 5 weeks, then 1 week with friends in Napier) we made a few stops along the way, comfort stops, coffee, and photo stops, so it was here at Lake Taupo that we stopped just for half an hour. Not enough time to really explore, but enough to see this Maori carving by the lake. I have used the brightness and contrast to show you the carving, but in so doing, "lost" the lake in the background.

This just had to be photographed, no not for the big fish really, but the the red "Londontype" bus in the background. It is a sightseeing tour bus, have seen more of them around in Canada for instance. Must be a novelty.

So this fish sculpture was taken very near to the photo of the carving above.
