San Diego From The Air

San Diego, California is the seventh largest city in the
United States and encompasses 4,200 square miles.
San Diego is known for its beautiful Pacific Ocean vistas,
pristine beaches, and idyllic temperate climate with an
average daytime temperature of a sunny 70 degrees.

Known for its spectacular beaches, San Diego is a mecca
for visitors to enjoy all kinds of outdoor and water sports such
as fishing, snorkeling, water skiing, sailing, hiking, hang-gliding
and more. For animal lovers, San Diego and the surrounding
area is home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo, the San Diego
Wild Animal Park, and ever-popular SeaWorld.

Every neighborhood within San Diego has its own unique
characteristics and the residents of each one have a strong sense
of community pride ......

Point Loma Lighthouse

Point Loma Light House was one of the
original 8 west coast lighthouses, built in
1855 in the Cape Cod style that was used
for all of them.

The forty foot tower rises from the center
of the keeper's house, fitted with a third
order fresnel lens.

The Point Loma Lighthouse is perched on
a windy finger of land, high overlooking the
Pacific Ocean on one side, and San Diego
Bay on the other.

Built in 1855, it was abandoned before the
turn of the century. For over 100 years, no one
has lived there.

Cabrillo National Monument

Part of the National Park Service, this monument
with its breathtaking 360-degree view of the city of
San Diego and far beyond was erected in honor of
Captain Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the first European
to set foot on the west coast.

Also onsite is the original lighthouse, which was
replaced in 1891 by the one that still steers vessels
away from shore. Tidepools delight young and old,
history buffs enjoy the museum, and hiking
enthusiasts are challenged by the trails.
