Chocolate and other Krakow, Poland Shopping Tips

Name of Shop: Wawel

This is a chain of chocolate shops that we
found while looking for some good Polish
chocolate to snack on and bring home.

Since we were staying at the Old Town
Sqaure, we went to the store in the sqaure.
(Rynek Glowney 33)

They have 3 locations in Krakow:
1.) Rynek Glowney 33
2.) Masarska 6
3.) Wroclawska 17

They also have 7 other locations around Poland.

What To Buy: Choclate bars are great, and you can get up
to 99% cocoa .... (a little bit too bitter for us)
Mary likes the 90% chocolate bars.
(see picture)

We also got some wrapped candy for gifts,
but we ate them all .... ha ha ha ha

At least the chocalate candy bars made it home
ok, now the question is, how many will we eat
before we give some away?

What To Pay: The chocolate was not expensive at all,
so we bought 20 chocolate bars.
(for gifts of course)

Name of Shop: The Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) #1

This building is a striking reminder of the
city's prosperous past ....

The Sukiennice is one of Cracow’s most
distinctive buildings.

It is best approached from Florianska St.
down the Royal Way.

On arriving at the square the Cloth Hall
appears to ripple away before you ......

What To Buy: .
If you want some trinkets (souveniers) from Poland,
this is the place to get them. If they are not here,
they are not made.

**** NOTE ****
You will get cheaper prices on most the same items
in the little shops on the side streets.

What To Pay: .
**** NOTE ****
Most everything here is over priced, but we did find a
few merchants who were willing to bargin with us, and
when we were done, we saved just about 50% of the
original asking price.

Other merchants gave a song and dance that they were
selling their goods for their cost, and some items, below
what they paid .... yea right !!

Name of Shop: The Cloth Hall (Sukiennice)

The Sukiennice - Cloth Hall
This building is a striking reminder
of the city's prosperous past ....

The Sukiennice is one of Cracow’s
buildings. It is best approached from
Florianska street - down the Royal Way.

On arriving at the square the Cloth Hall
appears to ripple away before you.

It is like some great sleigh that has come
to a triumphant halt in the middle of the
Rynek.

And if the roads were to part wide enough,
one can imagine the entire thing gliding off
gracefully into the unknown.

The Cloth Hall, as its name suggests, was
once a main focus of Cracow’s trade.

Merchants would meet here and discuss the
state of business, whilst inside a lively bartering
went on ....

What To Buy: Trinkets galore .........

What To Pay: We found that you can barter with the vendors, and
we saved as much as 60% if you are persistant with the vendor.

** TIP **
If you know what you want from a certain vendor, go
back just before closing with cash in your hand,
(what your willing to pay for the item) and chances are
you will get it when he/she sees the cash money.

Like they say - "money talks / BS walks"
