A Town With A Rich Heritage The lovely town of Coburg lies in the green heart of Germany between the higher reaches of the Main Valley and the Thuringian Forest.
Long the ancestral seat of the dukes of Sachse-Coburg and Gotha and meeting-place for Europe's royalty and aristocracy, the northern Franconian town only became part of Bavaria in 1920, as the result of a popular referendum. Even so, the former royal seat has retained much of its delightful combination of Franconian and Thuringian charm.
